My Pastor & My Money!

I’ll probably get roasted for this but what needs to be said, need to be said.
We get carried away by so many things in the 21st century Pentecostal Christian community and the earlier we realize how much we’re hurting ourselves the better.
The subject of money and giving has been a controversial issue within the church.

Perhaps it’s because church members feel ripped off when they see their leaders driving the latest cars, living in mansions, vacationing in choice countries and their kids getting educated in expensive schools. Church members wonder why they have to pay for their pastor’s expensive lifestyle while they struggle to make ends meet.

Where Does Your Money Go?

I was sitting at the back seat of a cab, admiring the landscape on the way to Admiralty in Lekki when i heard the Holy Spirit ask me : where does your money go?

Of course I tried to give him a list of what my monthly responsibilities were, and I became sadly aware that I had fallen short when he gently pointed out how little of my finances go to the preaching of the gospel.

Frankly speaking, I spend way too much on food.

A lot of us might not be able to physically go on mission trips, preaching the gospel to all the corners of the earth, but we should support those who do.

The Church & Money Today… (Part 1)

(As written by Lanre Afolayan)

This topic is a grey area within the church today which often times generates a lot of controversy among church folks. Many people that concur to this line of thought are neither bold nor courageous to discuss it publicly because of the backlash it would receive.

We however can not be mute or timid on matters that are crucial to God and to our faith simply because we don’t want to be persecuted.
There is a priority of the Kingdom of God that we must begin to shove into our hearts even as Christians, which is the soul of man in eternity.

Kingdom Investments With Femi Edun At The WaterBrook

So I attended the service on Kingdom finance principles at the waterbrook church and I must say it was an eye-opener. The cherry on top for me is the fact that most churches in Nigeria will hardly tell you how to plan, save and budget to ensure that you do not run into financial quagmire. What we are used to is long sermons on “dangerous giving” and the sowing of “earth-shattering” seeds. But how to work and organize your personal finances smartly so that you can have money to give? Nobody seems to be ready to tell us that.

What Being Really Rich Is About…

How interesting is it to know that one of the most discussed topics by Jesus was the area of finance and money. If you have read the Bible and know the character of Jesus, you’d know that He wasn’t grooming people up to give their money to Him.

As far as we know, He never even went out of the way to ask for a money offering. The prime reasons why He discussed money was because nothing more comes in the way of our spirituality than money. Money is something that can easily misguide us before we even realize it.

Stop Getting So Angry at “Rich People”

Stop getting angry at people who have what you don’t have and who can afford what you can’t presently afford.

Stop blaming everyone else, blaming the economy, blaming the job market, blaming your level of experience, doubting your education, and even blaming the average salary you’re receiving.

Stop looking outside yourself for something to blame for your lack of finances.

Take control of your own life, build a positive mindset, drop the anger, don’t get greedy, work hard at your enterprise, love God, and you will be happy.

If you have a negative relationship with money, you can not have a positive experience money either.

Have a great weekend!
