If Jesus Was On Earth Today, He Would Embrace Caitlyn Jenner

So the new photos of Caitlyn Jenner (formerly known as Bruce Jenner) hit the internet and social media is in an uproar. Of course, it’s not a secret that hollywood is seriously doing all it can to push the LGBT agenda or that the culture of the world we live in is changing rapidly and morality has been redefined. But that is not the point here today.

the point is how the christian community reacts to these changes and how those reactions affect not just the perception of christianity, but our mission and calling of reconciling the world back to God. (2 Corinthians 5:19)

It’s sad to see Christians brandishing bible quotes in protest and calling fire and damnation on Caitlyn Jenner. More sad to see the threats and the barely concealed anger and open contempt displayed against Caitlyn.

But i ask;  If Jesus were on earth at this time… Would he call Caitlyn  out for being a sinner? Would he publicly denounce her, make jokes and use slurs to shame her? Would he condemn her to hell and let everyone know that she is someone to be pointed out and scorned? Would he shun her and talk about how she should be killed or jailed?

What exactly would he do?

You guys know Jesus right? The guy who sat down alone with a woman who has slept with so many men that the whole town avoided her. The guy who touched lepers with his bare hands knowing that the law of moses declares him unclean? The one who visited known corrupt officials and had dinners with them in their homes ….

Look at what he said in Matthew 7: 1-5 (MSG)

1-5 “Don’t pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize their faults— unless, of course, you want the same treatment. That critical spirit has a way of boomeranging. It’s easy to see a smudge on your neighbor’s face and be oblivious to the ugly sneer on your own. Do you have the nerve to say, ‘Let me wash your face for you,’ when your own face is distorted by contempt? It’s this whole traveling road-show mentality all over again, playing a holier-than-thou part instead of just living your part. Wipe that ugly sneer off your own face, and you might be fit to offer a washcloth to your neighbor.

If Jesus was your church pastor, don’t you think he would open his doors to Caitlyn Jenner? Would YOU open your doors to her and be a friend if she needs one?

The gospel is not something to make us feel better than other people. Its given to us to embrace others and through our love for them, show them the practical love of God and connect them to him.

Think about this; does criticism and condemnation and shaming lead anyone to Christ?

In the words of Mother Theresa: “You cannot love people while you judge them”.

1 John 4:7-10 (MSG)

7-10 My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God. The person who refuses to love doesn’t know the first thing about God, because God is love—so you can’t know him if you don’t love. This is how God showed his love for us: God sent his only Son into the world so we might live through him. This is the kind of love we are talking about—not that we once upon a time loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they’ve done to our relationship with God.

  1. You nailed this Fola. We miss it many times when it comes to this issues. Its time the Church stops playing God. Transgender or straight, God would open His doors to Caitlyn Jenner.

Say something!
